چکیده

The present paper is aimed to developing an effective field theory in the GeV region to describe consistently both elastic and inelastic NN -scattering in a fully covariant way. In this development we employ our novel s-channel mechanism of NN -interaction at intermediate and short ranges assuming a formation of the sixquark bag dressed with basic meson fields such as π, σ, ρ and ω in the intermediate state. The peripheral part of the interaction is governed by t-channel oneand twopion exchanges described fairly well by chiral perturbation theory. The σ-meson dressing should be especially important for the stabilization of the bag due to a high coupling constant of the σ-meson with the bag and also a strong interaction between the σ-field and space symmetric quark core |s6[6]〉. This stabilization of the intermediate dressed bag (which shifts the mass of the bag downward to NN threshold) will be crucially important for the description of π, 2π, ρ and ω-meson production in NN -collisions, and, in particular, for the correct description of π0 production near threshold. So that, we expect that the results of the present work will lead to a deeper understanding the shortand intermediate-range nuclear forces and internucleon correlations in nuclei.

The Long and Short of Nuclear Effective Field Theory Expansions

Nonperturbative effective field theory calculations for NN scattering seem to break down at rather low momenta. By examining several toy models, we clarify how effective field theory expansions can in general be used to properly separate longand short-range effects. We find that one-pion exchange has a large effect on the scattering phase shift near poles in the amplitude, but otherwise can be ...

Regularization and renormalization in effective field theories of the nucleon - nucleon interaction

Some form of nonperturbative regularization is necessary if effective field theory treatments of the NN interaction are to yield finite answers. We discuss various regularization schemes used in the literature. Two of these methods involve formally iterating the divergent interaction and then regularizing and renormalizing the resultant amplitude. Either a (sharp or smooth) cutoff can be introd...

Status of Effective Field Theory of Nn Scattering

I review recent progress in developing a systematic power counting scheme for scattering processes involving more than one nucleon. 1. Why effective field theory? There exist many nucleon-nucleon potentials which reproduce phase shifts and nuclear properties with remarkable accuracy (an extensive reference list can be found in Ref. [1]). Three fundamental features are shared by these potential ...

Structure of A=10-13 nuclei with two- plus three-nucleon interactions from chiral effective field theory.

Properties of finite nuclei are evaluated with two-nucleon (NN) and three-nucleon (NNN) interactions derived within chiral effective field theory. The nuclear Hamiltonian is fixed by properties of the A=2 system, except for two low-energy constants (LECs) that parametrize the short range NNN interaction, which we constrain with the A=3 binding energies. We investigate the sensitivity of 4He, 6L...

Nuclear scales are discussed from the nuclear physics viewpoint. The conventional nuclear potential is characterized as a black box that interpolates nucleon-nucleon (NN) data, while being constrained by the best possible theoretical input. The latter consists of the longer-range parts of the NN force (e.g., OPEP, TPEP, the π-γ force), which can be calculated using chiral perturbation theory an...
